I've just sent an electronic invitation to Direct Choice to remove £485.24 from my bank account. I am insured to drive my nice new car, that I'll be picking up on friday, as of next monday.

I dont know what the curent exchange rate is but I pay more for less.

I pay $664 (355 GBP)for a year's worth of insurance, something I never hope to actually use, and that only covers my liability not the comprehensive. I have a 16 year old car with 235,000 miles on it. So dont complain too much I wish I could get a deal such as that! For a new car I would have to have the full coverage at a far greater cost.

I hope you enjoy your new car. Drive carefully and maybe the cost of the insurance will go down after awhile.

Thanks, and it will do, assuming I don't have to make any claims- I don't know how it works over there, but over here you get a certain percentage discount for each year that you own insurance without claiming on it.

And over here we insure a person for a particular car- am I right in my assumption that you pay the same amount for whatever car you have?

No actually it all depends upon what car you have and the mileage you drive. Also your driving record, how many tickets I may have (I have none). While the insurance may cover you if you are considering purchasing another car, it must be changed into a policy for that new car within a month, with a change in the cost.

The insurance insudtry is quite competitive but there is apoint where nothing will be cheaper based upon the driver or the car. Very complicated makes my head spin and hurt so I cannot keep thinking about it.
