Hi Hefelumpman...

Hi and welcome to h2g2.
I'm Captain Kebab and I'm an ACE, or Assistant Community Editor, which means I've volunteered to help greet new researchers and try to make them feel at home here on h2g2.
I see you've already started looking around - if you need any help just let me know - this place is full of people who would be happy to help you be less discontented!
There's loads to do here, so I've put together a page with some h2g2 links that you might find useful - you can get there by clicking this link: A794991. If you'd like to know any more or just want to talk you can click on the 'reply' button you'll see at the bottom of the page and I'll get back to you, or click on my name at the top and you'll find yourself at my personal space. You can leave a message for me there by clicking on 'discuss this entry'.
I hope to see you around soon...

lol - wow, thanks
An actual personal greeting in this day and age of computerised phone operators and electric toothbrushes is almost a new experience
*commence warm and fuzzy feeling*
I sincerely hope my nervous system doesn't consider that a symptom of bacterial infection
*nod*
thanks a lot
I'll be around this place a lot more than I thought I would!

Active conversations hard to find? Hmm. I think most people tend to talk more on personal spaces and journal entries than actual entries nowadays (didn't use to be the case). One place you'll always find an active conversation is http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/askh2g2 .
