Smudger879n Started conversation Dec 2, 2006
I have just noticed the date on my home page, it is Dec. 2002, that was when I got my home page made up, and it was Four Years ago yesterday!
That means I have been here for all that time, Gee! where did the years go
It was on my very first computer which was not all that good, but I never knew any better back then In fact the monitor started to heat up and it was when I saw smoke coming form it that I knew there was something seriously wrong with it
The computer I have now was built up for me by a mate of my stepsons, and I have upgrading it and buying new parts for it, like this new 19" TFT screen monitor, (which doesn't smoke)
There are still a few of the original folk left that I knew from them days, and a few more that have met since. Its been an interesting four years though, and I look forward to few more

HI, Smudger, on your four years here. I think I joined about the same time but would have to check it out. HooToo sure makes the time fly, when you are having fun.
I am glad you stuck around. I enjoy your posts and your articles. Keep up the good work. Gotta but must check out your laugh thread again soon as I could do with a good one. Very tired at present.

Dearest WS and Smudger,
Well my dear newbies!! I think I am either in my fifth or sixth year. That is the one big drawback about this programme that one has to add the date when one writes the entry/posting.
Lots of things to write about. which I shall as soon as I have managed to get myself back onto gmail. My current programme is just the end. But at the moment as well as trying to cope with the personal problems, my washing machine has given up the ghost, my dissshwasher has decided it does not want to co-operate and my marvellous new gmail has just diasappeared off my screen. Time to get my new computer.
Unlike you, Smudger I would be totally incapable of builiding up my own.!!
Have an extremely good day.
With much affection

Hi AR1, I never actually built my own computer, it was my stepson and his mate that built it As I had no idea it was coming to me, it was a present for my 52nd birthday
As my old computer started to smoke when it had been on for a few minutes so Mk2 got her sons and she chipped in herself and they all got it for me.
I must admit it has changed my life completely, as since I was laid off from work and declared disabled, I had so much time on my hands and used to get frustrated as I couldn't do a lot of the things I used to be able to do, let alone try new things
So sitting here for short spells and surfing the web was a life saver for me, then when I started writing the Snippets for that kept me on this site

Well Josh, I have thinking about getting a lap top so I can keep writing when I am out & about
The trouble is the one I would like is $479, but it does have a duo processor, so it looks like I will just have to remember the idea until I get home

I am Back! Well I haven't really been away, I have been popping in from time to time just to keep my "have a laugh" thread going
However, I have not spending the time I used to in here, with R/L getting in the way, and of course making my music CDs and the cover for them. Yet I am here now, and will be spending more time with you all, as I seem to have lost touch with a few of of you altogether
I have been keeping the Snippets up for in fact there are a few on my page waiting. I have missed you all, and the banter of course, which really helped keep me going through those dark days
It was great to come on-line and head straight to here to catch up with all the latest, in fact I used to get inpatient waiting for the page to load
Anyway, its good to be back

Ah! thanks for that Smurfles I have been a bit too busy to post more jokes as I am in the process of setting up a new computer, as mu old packed in me
I now have a lap-top with a remote Lan for wireless surfing, it took me ages rto set this lot up,butI think I am getting there now
and this Vista Windwos is a bit nippy to work with

Well folks I now have a state of the art lap-top which I had to get as my old desk top one packed up on me
The bloke said it would cost me around £350 to get it up to present spec? So I decided to go mobile
It has a LAN which means I can even sit outside in the summer house and surf away
The only draw back is, this new Vista system, its nippy compared to XP, and is doing my head in at times
So, when the good weather comes, I can sit outside and type out my Snippets (if they get into that will be a bonus!>
The print is also a lot smaller n this lap top, but I can still see it OK without my specs (well at least just now that is)

Cor! It's alright for some State of the art gizmos and he's still complaining
You are getting so clever with computers young man, you will be leaving us all standing soon. Sitting outside surfing in the sunshine sounds rather lovely. Let's hope you get some (sunshine) soon.
Today has been nice here, sunny and cool, with none of the nasty stuff promised, but I suppose it could still come.
with the Vista. I am sure you will master it shortly, as you have everything else.

Smudger879n Posted Jun 23, 2007
Hi WS, I had no choice really, as it would have cost just as much to fix the old one
Must admit though I have picked up a lot of info on computers by visiting them help sites, and reading other folks questions and then the answers
As far as Vista goes, it takes a lot of time to understand how it works (I don not like it)
So, I will let you know when I get to sit and surf outside some time

... WI-FI(ask me why I said that and my reply will make it fit the current topic sorta)

wi-fi is what most laptops use for wireless internet(and it is also used for ds multiplayer but that's off subject)
