Thanks for your note. I'm working with Richard Creasey and John Ridgway on the Albatross project you will see referenced from my page.

We're going to add lots more info progressively.

I'm reasonably familiar with HTML and have used XML a bit. I have been looking around for more info on GuideML. I came across a reference page with a few links but I was looking for a bit more than that. Any suggestions?

If you've used HTML etc. before, then you shouldn't have any major problems with Guide ML, though you may want to visit http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/brunel/GuideML-Clinic

It has links to introductions, and how to use each tag in the best way: I use it all the time!

I'm constantly amused at how unforgiving we are about internet glitches...the server went down three times last week for about 15 minutes a time and all of us in the BBC office were furiously dancing around.

I suppose it shows that we love our jobs...I think most people would just go out for a coffee or play computer games...or email friends. Come to think of it, perhaps we should have our heads examined?

Hi People - I'm just looking for a little GuideML assistance please.

Please advise on the tags and syntax I should use to set up links within a single document.

I am setting up page A903917 as a sort of site index for all the pages that are being built within H2G2 to support the Ridgway Albatross voyage.

I'd like to have a simple Contents at the top of the page with links that take a visitor straight to the section they might be interested in below.

I have tried the HTML function of:
Link to another section of this document

Beginning of new section

but cannot get it to work.

Any advice please?

Thanks Maggy - I don't have a problem with linking to another document, (eg A736887) as per your example.

No my question is about linking to a place further down the same document.

I want to have a summary list at the top of the document that enables the visitor to jump to a section further down the same document.

This needs an anchor or some such way of defining different points in the one document.

Sorryy, but I don't get how to do this with just the Link tag alone.

Erm...neither can I, I'm afraid. Never come across that one in Guide ML - I know you can do it on a website.

Gnashers (sorry, preciousssss) could you potter over to 'Ask H2G2' and see if anyone there knows? I'd go, but I lose my italic status and that makes me and you wouldn't want that, would you?

I won't go over to Ask H2g2: I'll do better than that! I see that vogonpoet has used that specific thing in the Environmental Society. So...as I have the password, I'll nip in and see if I can get the tags: if not, I'll mail him to come over here and explain it!

Thanks very much everyone - yea I know how to do it in straight HTML (as way above) but that didn't work in GuideML.

Also I see the thought police have taken my small space down - again - something must be bothering them.

The page I'm building with the internal links will be the main index for the albatross pages - a sort of site map so that its all quite clear to everyone.

I'll be over in Feb (from Melbourne, AU) meeting with Richard Creasey so might get to meet some of you?
