Hi!
In your list of people who have helped you, you have RhoMuNuQ as "chief GURU", can i ask what you mean by that? There is no such thing as a chief guru in an official sense, the closest you get is Bruce, the first guru, but he isn't around much anymore. I don't understand what you mean.

Dear Tango: you must read my things always with some humor in it! Of course there is no chief GURU, or sub Guru,- I just wanted to say: He is a very good GURU and the new Gurus could learn from him!
Is that an answer for you Tango???
I know something about you, I think you are an evolving teenager and that is very good, that you inquire and have strong opinion at your age.
I am much older, but I was a teenager some time ago so I understand, and happy to meet you. This is my signature: Gecko

I'm pleased to meet you too. I was just checking Rho hadn't been going around claiming to be more important than he is.

Hi again Tango: Rho does not give much info about himself. But the way He works with you you certainly can form a very favorable opinion about Him as a person and his ability to " share" his knowledge.
Here I'd like to mention to you, that I know about Bruce also from the beginnig ( around X-mas I started to look into h2g2), but I did not contacted him.
My feeling was, that he is very knowledgable about computer programming,- but missing to GET DOWN to the basics : the level of those, who are not in the business of his expertise. I might be wrong. But if you look as he sets up GML it is clear, that he stays on his level of advanced high level of knowledge.
I have read desperate postings ( more and more) saying: I do not understand! How can I do it?
On one occasion I sent a sample of step by step doing a task.
Most people would say: " Oh, that is easy! Copy and paste!"---
I wrote 14 steps about a question of Copy and Paste.! That is the difference, that the anxious researchers to HELP,-- simply have no patience to do the step-by-step explaination.
I live in Long Island in State of N.Y. My computer has large capacity and also work through cable, which is the fastest.
I am stuck with transmission of very usable infos, because on the other end no technical capacity is available to receive them at h2g2.!!
The most I can do through E-mail specially if somebody owns his or her own computer.
Be in touch, I am very happy to meet the bright young members of this community. This is my signature: Gecko

Bruce basically made the <./>GuideML-clinic</.>, it is very technical, but it needs to be really. I didn't know him that well, i wasn't around much while he was still here a lot, but i think he was good at explaining things to people. The hard part of being a guru is working out what level to explain it at, without it being too confusing, or too insulting.

Hi Tango: In my opinion there would be no need to go into various forms of gyrations with any kind of a computer program if there would be a PRINTED OUT FORM OF GUIDE-LINE.
I have such guide lines for Windows on all levels. They are step-by-step instructions even for a compliete idiot able to follow. I tried to print the entire info from h2g2,-- but mostly the transmission stops after the 3rd page.!!! Now that is really a bust.
My frustrations stemming mostly from the fact, that I could do all my communications in a very nice format with colors and graphics and repro paintings ---- in a very short time, because Microsoft programs has everything on my computer with only 1 click for the format, 1 click for color, just clicks, clicks and everything is there.
I never worked with taging, codes etc. I am using a finished product with Windows and 9.5 GB on my computer.
However I realize that that h2g2 does not have the tech. capacity. I have said these things so many times, I hope I am not repeating it to you.
My Home Page what you see is a very poor product and took me for ever to do it. I still have to " sweat" to do it better, with proper fonts, size, color etc. And I just don't have the time, because have a busy schedule in my life.
I am sharing these facts with you Tango, because you are young, ambitious, bright and most likely eager to achieve better things in life which are very much possible.

The clinic is the technical/offical information about GuideML, it is in the format that people firmiliar with XML would expect. There are easier guides to basic guideML on h2g2, i'll get an ACE to come over and show them to you.

Sorry, but it's my other self who's an ACE, and she's not logged on right now...
I thought GuideML was a tough nut when I first joined, but I got so envious of all the flashy user pages (and this was pre-BBC so they were *really* flashy) that I forced myself to learn more about it!
But I remembered how tough it was, so I and my other self created an entry called 'Spicing up your user page' that hopefully helps beginners getting started: <./>A690518</.>

Hi there Gecko!
One of the best pages is (funnily enough!) called spicing up your user page and can be found at A690518
It has some basic stuff on it, but it also links to the pages about guide ml that you may find most useful without having to wade through alot of other stuff, as you mentioned you are quite busy at the moment!
Besides, your page doesnt look too bad
Hope this helps

You are ALL very sweet . I did some changes on my Space: learned Italics at the beginning FOR QUOTE. Scroll down to the end I changed left and right position of PICTURES and have my emotions expressed with a BIG ANIMATED FACE.
SIZE OF THE HEADERS does not work,--- don't worry I will do it. Gecko <>

Gecko,
The header text should work.

I was going to post here saying that Tango should know better than to suspect Rho of misrepresenting the Gurus and that Rho couldn't be held responsible for the way individual researchers perceive things to be. However, now Rho has found this thread and chosen to comment for himself in such a manner, I have to say it does not help his case.

Nor was i being entirely serious when i posted the bit that you quoted. So it seems we are all being not entirely serious, so we should probably head over to spooks nonsense thread where no-one will notice!
