h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I caught about half of this programe on channel four last night and it was fascinating! Basically, evidence has been found which pretty much proves that Edward IV was illegitinmate. This, therefore throws out the succession of every British monarch since. The presenter, Tony Robinson, traced the history of the family who should have been monarch's of Britain, a branch of the Plantagenet family. He even found the man who, if the programme is to be believed, should be the current King Michael I! This guy was a British expat in Australia. He knew that he was a descendent of the Plantagenet's and that he was a Lord, but had no idea he should be King! He he found out, Tony Robinson asked him how he felt as he said "Bloody awful!" He was actually a Rebublican! He and his family seemed totaly shocked, but also very nice! What do you say to someone who tells you that you should be King of Britain? They also said that if his family had been monarch's, Britis history would have been completely different, ie. Scotland would have it's own King because James would never have been made King of England.

Anyway, it was a fascinating programme.
