The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (SPOILERS)

WARNING: SPOILERS

Does it ever happen that the final film in a trilogy lives up to the first two?

It does now. In fact, it more than lives up to them. The first couple of scenes had me a bit concerned, but it soon got going and was better than ever! The effects were incredible, especially the battle scenes. Just looking down and seeing the numbers involved blew me away. A few minor niggles: when Legolas is telling Gimli about the oath-breakers, he is wrong! He says that they didn't answer an oath to the last King of Gondor, so Isildur cursed them. However, Isildur was the ancestor of the last King of Gondor, and long dead.

I spotted Peter Jackson's cameo as a captain on the corsair's ship when Gandalf mentions them to Aragorn too. Minas Morgul looked wierd, and so did Gollum when he fought with invisible Frodo. A bit disapointed that we don't find out what happens to Eowyn and Faramir, and Eomer, even though it's in the book. I'm assuming this was time constraints and I know they filmed Eowyn and Faramir's wedding, so here's hoping it'll be on the extended DVD.

Anyway, these are minor complaints, it was a fantastic film and a good decision to get rid of the anticlimax which is the Scouring of the Shire.

10 out of10 without a doubt! smiley - smiley Loved it!
