Feeling a bit the worse for wear...

Just got back from Planet V, the big event put on by Vanbrugh College here at the good old University of York, and I'm feeling pretty weird.

I put this down to drinking. Not that I overconsumed, you understand. I had one Reef (Vodka and orange, alcohol content 5%) and a cocktail called a hairy naval (Vodka, Archers, Grenadine, Orange juice, alcohol content clearly a lot higher than expected). As I neared the end of my cocktail, I began to feel odd and the feeling persists as I write this. I felt wooly-headed, if that makes sense, and when I was standing up I didn't feel entirely stable - a bit wobbly in fact. I went for a quick walk with two friends which helped a bit, but I decided to leave the event and come back to my room since I still felt odd.

My question: is this drunkeness? I don't think so, since as far as I can tell this post is fully coherent so far. But is it one of the stages? I don't really know since the closest I've ever got to being frunk (before today) is having 2 vodka and oranges and 5 Reefs over a period of about 5 hours, but I had eaten. Then I got a headache and again didn't feel entirely stable.

Your thoughts?

I will post again tomorrow with how I feel then, but for now I'm off to drink lots of water.

Please tell me you didn't leave your drinks unattended at any point?

Be aware there is a massive problem with drinks being spiked in Britain's unis at the moment. My friend's boyfriend was very ill last week and it is believed his drink was spiked - and these are two generally sensible, careful people that don't over-indulge either.

Please, hon, be very, VERY careful to make sure you don't end up in this position. Even soft drinks need to be guarded, not just the alcoholic ones.

Feel well soon.

I didn't. I got it from the bar and had it in my hand the rest of the time. I think I must have just had a bad reaction to it (it was string stuff) but the thought did cross my mind too. smiley - sadface

Feeling fine again now though! Thanks for the concern! smiley - hug

Glad you cleared that up; I had this image of a cocktail glass full of silly string! I know student drinks can be smiley - weird and elaborate sometimes, but that was still way too odd! smiley - laugh

Glad you're feeling better. At least you'll know not to choose that drink again.

smiley - ok

Unless I'm tempted just to see if it has the same effect twice... smiley - evilgrin but that would be silly, wouldn't it? smiley - winkeye

They don't normally do cocktails anyway, so I doubt it'll be an issue.
