For Whom the Bell Tolls

Well. The funerals' over. Theres' nothing like a good ol'southern U.S. funeral to "brighten" your day. At least we don't "sit up" with the dead, anymore.
It's been a while since I've been to one of these for one so young. Never been to one for someone so young who was so close.
A person gets use to funerals with large amounts of old geezers and biddies, a few token young folks attending out of obligation. It's odd to see that tradition reversed.
In honor to Josh....he had just passed through Monsharis' "drone" stage, and was well on his way to becoming a fine young man. He will be truly missed.

yes, you are truly right there, he will be greatly missed and in my opinion was far too young to die
he had escaped the drone stage quite well and was doing a fine job as a budding adult. i wish he had stayed around a bit longer for our own selfishness if nothing else. his father should be proud of the young man he had become . he did a fine job of raising his two sons and it is a shame he had to loose one of them just as he was reaching adulthood.

I'm very sorry.
A girl I babysat... *babysat*... died about a month ago, at 15. I couldn't even bring myself to go to the funeral. It's really really sad to see so many young people die.... I wanted to send you my sympathies.

I also send you my condolences. As they say there is a time and a place for everything even for dying but sometimes it's just to soon.
All the best.

Although this is not the place to start a forum on anything(unless you wish it to be one) I would like to say that the Internet used to be a very unpersonal kind of thing but things evolve. I feel that I have friends at home(fortunately) but also on the internet.
This is the global village McCluhan dreamed and wrote about and that means that friendship(if it happens) is no longer limited to distance.

it is nice to see that even with all the jokes and laughter that goes on among these forums when it comes down to it there are some really caring people among us . Thank-you
fairly strange...................if nothing else this has caused us to stop and think about how short life really is and that we really should never put anything off until tomorrow for we never know when there won't be a tomorrow.

Forums live and die where ever they may be born. It is not for us to choose.....especially here at h2g2!
I'm sure it's quite evident that I'm a "newbie" to computers as well as the internet. One of the things which kept me away from the technology was the horror stories concerning "hackers", porn, spam, crashes, etc. But primarily the impersonal nature of it.
It has been pleasant to find that most of what I was lead to believe was not true. I, so far, have found it to be highly personal and not the least bit unlike daily life. The difference is, I no longer talk only to my local friends. I now have conversations , both silly and serious, with people all over the world! While the exchange of cultures and ideas can sometimes be overwhelming, it leads to a much greater understanding of the world around me. That can only be a good thing.
I refer to the folks here at h2g2 as friends. I may be somewhat presumptuous in that belief, but it is as close to a correct deffinition as I can find.
I'm well aware my personality does not agree with everyone here, but I can only hope most understand that I say nothing intentionally harmful. (If it seems so, ask me and I will explain my comments.)
In my short time in cyberspace, the best place I have found is here. Somehow, that's not surprising. If read right, the Hitchhikers Guide is not a bad phylisophical piece, and this site only extends the idea. "Your universe is not that small, and all thats' out there is not bad......as a matter of fact...most of is is for the better".
And before this gets as long as one of Zachsminds' entrys......I will now cease and desist!

Rest assured that most people that take the time and effort to read and reply to forums here on h2g2,though they may laugh and joke and enter some rather *rude* stuff,at heart are all caring, kindly people. There are two ways to improve a lonely *surf* throught the net:join h2g2 and get on icq

Typing is my handicap on icq. I'm afraid most folks would get terribly bored waiting for me!
I must say, the personality of h2g2 is what keeps me here. A better lot of folks you'll not find anywhere else on the "net". The kidding is just that, and when it gets serious, it is highly informative.
Maybe someday, if I ever get around to plugging in this program Monsy got for me, I'll give icq a shot. Till then, I'll just look over her shoulder!
After watching Monsy for a while, I really don't think I could keep up with that much stuff at one time!!!!!!!
