OK....that should have gotten the moderators' interest!LOL

In all seriousness...I have, and I think a few more here, may have a cultural problem.

In the Southeastern US we use UK profanity at ease...mixed company and all. None of us knows what any of it means......it just sounds cool, and makes a great replacement for our "real stuff".

Is there any way we can trade "blue language" definitions without being vulgar? I'm very curious as to where, exactly, these term come from.

Take, for instance, the word "sod". Don't get excited.....Monsy and I get BBC America.....I KNOW what it means in the UK. Here....its' precut grass that is laid on a new construction lawn.

God help me if I ever come here and tell anyone I have just sodded my lawn! I'll never hear the end of it!LOL

I think you see where I'm going with this....this is a "worldwide web"...we...I.... need to know the language!

Good idea, NM! smiley - smiley Gotta love a man who pushes the limits of human knowledge and understanding!

I know that "cojones" means "testicles" in spanish; "kata" means "penis" in Romany Gypsie ("kas mu" meaning "suck my", for those of you interested in a wider palette with which to work); "Verdammen" means "damn" in German- and I USED to know how to call you an S.O.B. in Korean. Ah, it's going! All the wonderful swear-words in all the wonderful languages! A foul mind is a TERRIBLE thing to waste!

Oh, well. Let's hope it catches on, and we can REALLY have a dictionary of swear-words to astound the baffled masses with! smiley - smiley

By the way.....there is a tentative meeting of H2G2 Researchers from the Southeast organising. Monsy and I suggested the Highland Games at Stone Mountain in October......

Might be workable. I'd give you the link to the page....but "moderation" won't allow it. If you're interested, e-mail me(the link is on my "User Page")

Hopefully this time around I'll not have major "life situations" occuring...I think I'm out of parents nowsmiley - winkeye.
