Well, as Canada gets an icy blast of winter (or somewhat of a return to what Canadian winters were like until approximately the mid '70's), Edmonton's mercury is predicted to fall as low as -38 C today, with an accompanying windchill taking us down to the vicinity of -50! smiley - brr

Yesterdays temperature got down to -34, however Edmonton's recorded low was -41.1 C, in '72.

Brrrr! Stay warm up there, Jazz! It's cold down here, but I can only cmplain to my sister in Florida about it. It's nothing compared to -34! Do you stay in more when it's so cold? Or do you just suck it up and go on with whatever you wwant to do? It doesn't usually stop me down here, but it's not as cold either. But I do have two little ones and we haven't gone out to play in the snow yet. I t will probably melt beforew e get around to it.

How is life at the club? Hopefully. that will pick up your spirits when the cold gets you down!

Actually Juliana, I've been inside for just about a week & I had "cabin-fever" today, so I was out to do some shopping at noon (& to settle on some clothing for tonight). I missed last weekend at the club-with those burnt fingers-ok now BTW, but I will be there in just under an hour for their Jam Session...fortunately Izzybelle, it's only a "stones throw", & I've got plenty of good warm clothing!

Hi Jazz,
Gothenburg is experiencing one of the colder and snowier(? is that correct?) winters for some years. I think it is quite fun, the snow brightens things up, all the kids love it. Most adults keep cursing. Allthough we live in Scandinavia, the west coast is not used to real winter. So most people only think of it as the horrible, often wet - allways dark and cold, period between summer and spring. Nobody is seriously prepared for a winter in town. But as cold as you report from Canada... we are nowhere near it.

Otherwise things are quite OK. Life goes on. I go up, go to work, comes home, eat, take care of the family, see my friends etc... You know the usual kind of everyday life. I am not complaining.

Looking forward to spring, though...smiley - winkeye

Our westcoast here is much the same, they rarely experience the more severe winter weather the rest of the country does. In fact the commonly used nickname for our wst coast is "lotus land", implying I suppose an easy life where summers last 10 months of the year & there're rarely ever REal winters...a sort of "Camelot". In fact I had found a very nice Tourim site http://www.vancouverscenes.com , The snow in a couple of the pictures is quite rare & never seems to stay very long.

Hmm, 10 months of summer sounds nice, and Vancouver seems to be a pretty place. But maybe I would miss longing for spring...

summer is far briefer a period than you would think. Where I come from on the coast, real summer is about a month or so long. The rest of the time its very spring or fall-ish (lots of rain and not too cold) The flowers start coming up in february (I've seen a few already) and it is very blustery. I like it though, better than numbers in the negatives and tons of snow. smiley - winkeye

Ah, good to get your input Clio...nothing like hearing from someone who actually lives there! smiley - smiley How're things going?

Spring-ish and fall-ish sounds nice... flowers already?! We´ll have to wait for that yet a few months.
But on the whole I imagine Canadian and Scandinavian nature and climate to be of similar "temperament"

We have one of the warmest winters in ages. It's around -1...-6C these days, even with some sunshine. I don't mind, though that slush on the streets is smiley - yuk.
