h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Well, rather surprised I am but apparently I managed to do enough to get a pass Grade 2 which is basically 70-84% (equal to a Merit).

Exam I got 69% on - not surprising I got a merit(70%-84%) on the first 3 questions (that's what happens when you can't remember all the names and dates!) and pass (55%-69%) on the final question which was the one I dashed off in about 20mins right at the end and assumed I'd be lucky to get over 40% on.

Course work average was 77% and I got 85% for the write up I was asking you all about in an earlier journal so thanks all for the help!

Strangely it says you need 70% min in both exam and coursework to get a pass grade 2 but they have still given me that even though the exam was 69% - I'm guessing either they gave me the benefit of the doubt OR I got 69.5% or something. Still, not complaining!

woot! well done. I'm passing so far too. (mind you it's pretty hard not to pass first year) Here's to further successes .

What are the next modules?

It's cuz your coursework was higher. Had this recently at OU where a student had only 39% but still got a pass though the min was 40%. They'll look at your previous work etc. and stretch the boundaries if they think you've put the effort in. Well done!

Cheers Queeglesproggit - shame they didn't do that on my first course where I got 78% assignment but stuffed the exam and only got 50% - so they gave me 50% overall. Mind you, was my fault

I've been warned the child development one is more of a degree in extreme feminism and that the correct answer to most of the questions is how the father has caused problems and screwed up the kid
OTOH the person telling me that is the sort of person who uses the phrase 'pc-brigade'!

Still, all social waffle psychology and not hard science so not sure how I will do on them. Not booked yet, giving myself some space first.

No worries, that sounds like the B07 Psychology? Didn't realise you were studying with the OU

If you've still got some free choice points left it may be worth doing A172. A few people have done it and said it improved their TMA scores (by 10-15% according to one person). The course choice advisors are always recommending to people.
