Find an internet cafe! Well, no, not that sad , just passing the time while I'm waiting for my appointment to have a massage lesson... I'll be a fully trained Chinese masseuse in 1 hour!

Flew in to Yangshou yesterday, waited by the luggage reclaim... waited some more... rest of the group had their bags.... Then a Chinese man came along to tell me my bag was in ChongQuin . It should arrive at 12noon... 45 minutes ago... the tour leader has now said he's sure it'll arrive today Have been out and bought a t-shirt and some knickers, though the knickers are a bit small... it may be a bit embarrassing when I strip down for my massage not sure what to do there.....

Have also booked a Calligraphy lesson for tomorrow, possibility of a Chinese cooking lesson this evening.. it's either that or go for the snake dinner. Would like to try snake but not so keen on seeing the live snake brought to the table and killed . The more adventurous will be drinking snake's blood with baijou (rice wine) Don't fancy that, but it's more the idea of rice wine that's yukky rather than snake's blood!


Apparently very easy to be an english teacher here... good pay and cheap apartments... city is very cool with lots of western food and funky Chinese.. got me thinking.........

I had a head massage lesson in the end.. so no worries about embarrassing pants! The lesson was theory, where I made lots of notes; and practical, where she showed on my head what she'd been talking about and I found it a lot more difficult to concentrate

Did Chinese cooking lesson that evening, met up with others who'd gone for the snake after, and tried a bit - tastes like chicken!

Sounds like a fab holiday! Were the lessons arranged through your hotel/holiday package or did you have to organise them yourself?

It was Fi, the lessons weren't arranged for us as such, the tour leader organised who was doing the cooking, but for everything else he told us what was available and where to go, and let us sort ourselves out. Dr Lily was the head massage lady - she's brill. If you're ever in Yangshuo, go see her!


There will be pants in the photos, but only my travel buddy's! He didn't have any trunks with him when we went to the mud pool caves, but I told him just to strip down to his underpants! I had a cossie, but the photos of us with just that and a covering of mud still look a bit dodgy!
