Hello loohszee 
If you enter into conversations you will soon make friends.. also if you look at the PS (personal space) of any new friends, you will find you can add them to your "Friends List" by clicking your mouse on "Add to Friends" It is all automatic, I used to leave a message to my "New Friend" to ask them if that was okay.. and I was never turned down
