h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I am looking for a poem by victor hugo, i cannot remember its name but it likens someone dying, to a ship setting sail from a shore, where the people gather in sadness as they wave her goodbye but on a further shore other people gather in excitement, as they see the same ship is sailing towards them. Its really lovely, i found it at the time my mum passed away and the thought of her being welcomed by her friends and family that had gone before her, really made me feel better. My friends husband passed away last week from cancer, he was only 36 and i think she would like the idea of him being welcomed by others as we say goodbye but i cannot find it anywhere. Can anyone help. thankyou.

I know the one you mean, I didn't know it was by Victor Hugo. I'm not sure I have a copy of it in the house but will look for you. I was helped by it a lot when my Dad died.

thanks jules, i am new to this so please excuse any mistakes, that is very like the poem on the card but it did say victor hugo on it, maybe bishop brent updated it, i dont know but never mind, this is lovely thanks again, i have printed it for her. sorry i did not answer straight away as you did, but i took a tour site and got engrossed in other topics, still not sure i know how it works did i just add a smiley?

I live in France (Angoulême) & we have a rue Victor Hugo here, about 5 minutes walk from my house!

A little advice: if you open up your Personal Space by writing a short intro, you will make it much easier for people to contact you; doesn't have to be detailed or personal & you can always edit it later.
