smiley - yikes I’ve been away from hootoo for far too long. I hope everyone’s ok and that I haven’t missed anything exciting.

Work continues as normal – but on the home front life has become rather hectic. B and I have found a house, and after waiting for the Solicitor to get the paperwork moving I’ve just heard this morning that all being well we should be getting the keys on Friday. smiley - wowsmiley - magicsmiley - yikes

That means we’re actually going to have to do some packing. smiley - headhurts

Endangered species, hmmm, yes I am a bit of a rare bird. smiley - winkeye

to all. It’ll be great to be back now things are slightly more settled here.

Now I’m off to rummage through all the detritus in my office to find empty boxes – I knew there was a reason why I never threw anything of potential use out. smiley - biggrin

Well there is rather a lot of stuff to shift at rather short notice - we were aiming to exchange around the 20th April, leaving us with the Easter break to get packed and ready to go.

smiley - erm Never mind, we'll survive. My mother is coming to help pack and she's great at squeezing loads of stuff into unimaginably small areas. I've also persuaded my great big hulk of a little brother to come and help with some of the heavy lifting on Saturday.

I'm still in work (graveyard shift) so hopefully B'll have calmed down a bit when I get home. It's usually me panicking, not him.

*flaps in*

Hmmm, well we seem to have wrangled our way into borrowing enough boxes.

I've just been on the phone to the water company - apparently the new house is on a water meter. Didn't know that. smiley - erm Time to invest in a water butt for the garden. It's a good thing we don't go in much for washing our cars.

According to VV, a water meter is perfect for just two of you and should leave you quids in smiley - winkeye

Also, you can use 'ordinary' bath water on your plants, it actually increases the growth and flowering! smiley - ok

We don't tend to bath very often.

smiley - tongueout It's not what you think, we prefer showers for most of the year.

If it's going to save us money on our water bill I'll happily put up with the meter. Now all we need to do is work out how to by pass the gass from the mains to the house without it going through the meter.

smiley - tea? or smiley - coffee or a smiley - stiffdrink?

I'm settling for a smiley - stiffdrink or two. Things have gone from mad to the ridiculous here.

smiley - wah The exhaust fell off my car this morning as I was driving into work. Or to be more accurate, the bolt (or whatever it is) that holds the front bit of the exhaust onto the engine fell off my car this morning leaving the exhaust dragging along the road by the back bolt.

The nice Mr AA man came out and rescued me, but he couldn't get me back to Ross again.

The result is that I'm stuck in work, the car is stuck in the garage down the road that's so busy they don't know if they'll get chance to fix it today. The Solicitor is about to exchange contracts, we should get the keys to the house tomorrow evening, but I don't know if I can get home today. smiley - steam

Typical of my luck - I'm going to try and get the day off tomorrow and get Dad to take me back to Ross tonight. However I don't know if I'll be allowed the day off because a colleague who noramlly covers for me is on holiday atm. smiley - steamsmiley - steam Arrrrghghhh!!!

Hopefully I'll get an answer fairly soon one way or another.

Excited and slightly scared now.

Oh, and I've got my car back again.smiley - smiley

smiley - laugh and a tan, and a sun burnt nose - but that was from spending all day outside last Wednesday preventing a stampeede of students from shooting HRH Prince Edward.

I should say to clear things up a bit that I was part of a small team who were running the archery section of a triathalon event that was held at the college and visited by HRH as part of his work as patron of the Duke of Edingburgh award scheme.

I didn't get to see the prince, but we did have a lot of fun spotting the MI5/SAS type people who were lurking round the college grounds in bushes.
