for the delay in answering. The very patient owner of this pc wanted to use it
!!
Memory-you want tons of memory,This pc is because it outmemories our pc by a gazillion.
The deep funk I`ve been in for years is somewhat lifted, the
'friends' continue to live with us.But the kids are growing up & are therefore playing outside a lot more
& it`s to be here for 1&1/2 months or so!

My turn to appologize for the delay...hadn't been online too much today (until late afternoon) & of course this thread got buried under more recently used ones. Glad things've improved somewhat (both "deep funk"-wise &
'friends'-wise) & certainly glad
that you're back!

J~Z~D!
I could not believe Gary killed our pc!!Although the initial attraction had worn off I was in despair!! No backup of addresses!!
it really made me appreciate the ness of the p.c.Finding people you feel at ease with,& comfortable talking to,is a necessary antidote to the perceived anonimity of these times.I find it comforting to reassure myself that people are still people-let the governments deal with the 'projected image' of a country.

Ah, you're So right about the ability to connect with people all over - just a recent example, I exchanged happy Canada Day wishes with a Canadian now living in Tokyo...as well as wishing a Canadian living in Spain the same.

Not having a pc made me appreciate how much talking with my s draws me out of myself. This is definitely a +
.Finding countrymen abroad gives one a feeling of togetherness!

And of course, shared interests in somewhat unexpected places - like finding a Neil Young fan in Sweden.

Oh, speaking of "percieved anonymity" & that Canadian living in Spain, she's actually started a photo gallery resulting in a few stategically placed little holes in that general anonymity : http://public.fotki.com/azahar/h2g2_friends (uh, no I'm not in there just yet...I'm workin' on it!)

Hi Abbi-dear!
I`m actually optomistic about the presidential race ! The 2 Johns sound ++.My only nagging worry is that Dubya doesn`t like to lose;there could be another terrorist attack, martial law, suspension of civil liberties- & voila..a usa-grown dictator-ship.

If nothing else, Dubya`s getting people to vote who haven`t voted in years.Of course, winning the popular vote doesn`t mean you`re automatically elected...look at the Gore vs Bush outcome in 2000
