Oh how the media companies are joining forces offering package deals for the "Jessica Story"
Movies.shows,books,specials......

She still has no memory!

Warning:*delusions of a cynic*
She has never been given the story of her memory.
Or! She was given the story and refused to tell it!
I am sure the co-op of Hollywood and Gov will come up with just the right story. They are offering her millions while continuing to say she has no memory!smiley - doh

I'm going to look foolish now (it's not the first or last time), but what/who is the "Jessica Story?" I know I'm behind in the news, but I must have missed this one. smiley - erm

MadHamish : Off in the real world!

I have heard talk that the whole thing was a scam, to try and bloster the Morale of troops over there, and the reason that she is being kept under wraps is that some, most or all of the story is fabrication! Now, I have never trusted the US government on anything they have to say because they ALWAYS have more than one agenda for every action. That and the fact the "Ol' Dubbya" is an idiot!! As Nelson Mandela replied after being invited to meet "Ol' Dubbya".....
"I will not meet with the President of the United States of America until it is a person capable of independant thought."

It sounds as if you havn't heard or seen what really happened in the 'rescue'.

Chanel 4 news, one of the best news providers in Britain, broadcast their investigation into the 'rescue' recently on British TV. (They even said at the beginning of the docu that it would never be allowed to be shown or broadcast in the US.)

Cutting a long story short:

Instead of being kept, beaten up and ill-treated next to her dead comrades in an iraqi make-shift hospital/prison as the 'rescuers' (and the US media) put it she was: being given treatment with the ONLY repeat ONLY specialist equipment and room available in the HOSPITAL while iraqi civilians were being treated in makeshift wards with makeshift equipment. Every doctor interviewed vouched for her good treatment. She had her own nurse by her bedside almost 24 hours every day. By the time the US troops staged their overblown attack on a HOSPITAL, all of the handful of Iraqi soldiers who had been near the hospital had soiled their underwear and fled more than 24 hours beforehand. The attack the troops made on the hospital only injured civilians and endangered the lives of the few staff members who bravely remained in the hospital.
Oh, and the doctors (showing the reporters her medical file) confirmed she had not been shot but had suffered a broken leg and arm.

If anyone believes the story Bush's henchmen, officers and media luvvies have cooked up they must be nuts. I mean, she happens to 'conveniently' lose her memory? The 'rescuers' conveniently film the whole escapade (and let's face it, that video footage could have been shot in an abandoned factory or something - if you compare the footage to daytime pictures of the hospital where it happened, they look nothing whatsoever alike).
I do not mean to put the woman soldier down in the slightest - she did her job, managed to survive...but now she is even more of a pawn on the Bush administration's chessboard than she was on the battlefield. I trully feel sorry for her. 'If' she hasn't lost her memory, 'if' she does remember what actually happened, she is going to have to live under this lie for the rest of her life.

I only hope she has the courage to blow the whistle, then she'll certainly be a heroine in my books.

There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho

Their are a lot of people in my part of the world (Texas) who will happily believe this story, and take you around the back for a little chat if you doubt any of it. Unless the American media does the same kind of job as Channel 4 then they'll continue thinking that way, and their bigotry and jingoism will have been reinforced even further.

Do you think that Fox is likely to buy anything other than the government version of it? Unlikely. The other networks - possibly.

CNN - I don't know. Ever since the hostilities 'ended', it seems like CNN is running some kind of programme about the war, and interviews with and footage of American troops at every opportunity when they're not showing a live news show.

Thanks for posting the link Pencil Queen. I see I made a small mistake in my summary (I thought that there had been civilian casualties).

I was disturbed though when reminded by the article that US troops had fired on the ambulance (!!!!!!!!!!!) the doctors were trying to help to Jessica escape in.

The "Defenders of Freedom"? Don't make me laugh!!!!

Everyone should read the above linked article - hopefully it will open a few american eyes wide enough to see the lies their media and government is telling them day after day after night after night.

Good for them. Somebody should rubber stamp it on Dubya's forehead as well.

One small quibble:

The war ain't over. The Americans and British think it is. The Americans, as usual, are full of horse manure. The British presumably know what they're full of.

Potentially, Iraq and Afghanistan will both sink the United States and Britian as Afghanistan sunk the USSR. The quick and dirty video game war is over but the real one has barely started.

Jessica Lynch is about as incredible a poster girl as they could have found at central casting. But she'll strum the heartstrings of the idiots who support the equally incredible G.W. Bush.

Unfortunately, if Bush hadn't been born, someone would have had to invent him. It might behoove Americans to determine who that someone might be before the next election.

Now, who invented Tony Blair? And does such invention not constitute patent infringement on the rights of the owners of the Punch and Judy franchise?

As Gosho said ,some people are willing to believe it. Too many! There are people waiting to vote for him again.smiley - ill
smiley - erm

IF Jessica wanted to do the real story do you think it's even possible after her arrival briefing ? Maybe she did not want to be the woman of the hour on every channel with someone elses version of her story.

That is why I would feel she could be in a tough spot now.
She would be my hero if she did not allow them to use her.
I have been waiting for this to come about since her amnesia was anounced. Maybe amnesia was her only viable offer from the gov.

I did not give the US television the benefit of doubt.
I suppose they could do the whole real story, that would be "special" and worth airing.

You are so Right Steve.

The war is not over.
Bush , the personna was invented.
The inventor is a large ugly machine.
They went to his Texas ranch to explain how it is in the world and why they needed HIM. He (was) pushed forward from there. They are still writing scripts. IMO The employment of Holloywood by the machine came long before the war.

Daddy Bush was never my favorite but at least he did more of his own homework.

What's worrying me is the way that so many people believe that the 'war' has been won. Of course it hasn't, but telling everyone that it has gives an air of finality to the process.

So now what happens? We get the kind of attacks that we've had over the past week by snipers and bombers who quite clearly don't agree with the idea that hostilities have come to a conclusion. American soldiers are killed - as most Americans will see it - in 'peacetime', by ungrateful Iraqis, by terrorists.

That's going to rekindle the hatred of Iraqis/Muslims which so many Americans have been fed by their government and media.

Bush is already telling Iran what to do, which to me signals that he and he and the people pulling his puppet strings want to go in there next, but if he thinks he's going to get the same kind of support from other countries as he got for invading Iraq, he's got another thing coming.

So right Gosho.
I have heard the word Iran far more than Iraq for weeks now.
It is very disturbing.
The death toll *post war* is surely higher than the so called war.

I also hear Canada alot these days. WE are constantly being urged to look up there! The cheaper prescription issues the US is ready to ban without helping the millions that use them.

We rarely hear Mexico mentioned anymore.
Many bad things are happening down in the South Americas. Certainly not going to hear about Central and S America, very depressing. smiley - blue

They should have left those troops in place and done rebuilding.
It is a travesty to me. The US needs to learn how to organize and rebuild after war. I am still seething about the carrier speech proclaiming the end of the war.

If we were at least taking care of humanitarian aid, things would be a bit better! It seems they are not even trying to "look good". That worries me, the lies , the work, the reasons are sloppy. WE are into the 3rd or 4th general running things. Now they have chosen a retired special ops general to finish up. Why was he not there first? Before a war?

MadHamish : Off in the real world!

I believe in assuming the best of people in general, and it disappoints me to be proven wrong. I see the US govt. as the worlds' greatest criminal power (not the people, just the Govt. machine!)
"Freedom and Justice for All (inside our boundries.) Unfortunately we are a captive audience to a power that is piece by piece "RAPING" the world we live in, in the name of capital growth and economic rationalism. I feel the need to tell them off like a spoilt little child who insist on bullying the other kids and riding shotgun over the playground! (Stop it! Naughty USA! Naughty USA! Stop it or you'll get a whack!!)Donald Rumsfeld should be tried as a war criminal! (What an evil little pr*ck)

Steve The Fool - Hereditary Dog Monkey Chief

I think it would be mistake to assume the raping is confined to outside United States borders. It's more a matter of degree than anything else, and no one is immune.

Americans are getting ripped off every day even as they participate in ripping off others. The manure rolls downhill, the cash or wealth flows uphill. Not a lot has changed in the last 800 years.

The United States government has been a criminal enterprise almost since its inception. If it didn't claim plenary powers and have the muscle to enforce that claim, it would have been arrested and beheaded years ago.
