Farewell Old Friend...
Stealth "Jack" Azathoth Started conversation Jan 16, 2007
Farewell, sweet Love [and sweet friend] ! yet blame you not my truth [for they were not sweet lies];
More fondly ne'er did mother eye her child
Than I your form [your truly pretty form]: *yours* were my hopes of youth [for we were young],
And as *you* shaped my thoughts I sighed or smiled [or cried].
While most were wooing wealth, or gaily swerving
To pleasure's secret haunts, and some apart
Stood strong in pride, self-concious of deserving [you gave me the good, I gave you the bad, neither of us deserved it]
To you I gave my whole weak wishing heart [weak wishing heart].
...
O grief! - but farewell, Love! I will go play me
With thoughts that please me less, and less betray me [and you].
[Words not in brackets from 'Farewell To Love' a sonnet by Samuel Taylor Coleridge]
