Emee, out from under the rock

We've been puting Peanut to bed at 8:30ish but I think we're going to have to start with 7:30 or 8. The last several mornings I've had a hard time waking her up and once she's awake, she says things like, "Lee me 'lone," "You go 'way," "I go my bed," "I seep more." smiley - sadface I don't know why she had to take after me in that one respect. Of course, dealing with her fully awake and happy to be alive daddy isn't much fun either in the mornings so I don't know which would be worse - a bouncy, bright-eyed Peanut or a cranky Peanut. Of course, the obvious solution is to put her to bed earlier. Easier said than done though. She worries that she'll miss something fun. Plus, we've gotten in the habit of letting her go to bed with us to get to sleep and then I move her to her bed. I need to figure out a way to rearrange the apartment so that she has a more defined bedroom to which we can send her for bed. I think that would make it easier to establish a better sleep routine for her. It would probably be best if she were in the office area and the office area were moved to where her bed is now. To do that though, I need to figure out a place to put the landlady's fouton. smiley - weird The best place for that would be in the other bedroom that's upstairs but which is used for storage. But there's no room at that inn so I think I need to have a good clear out and a garage sale or maybe put a bunch of stuff on a web-based auction site... What? Me? Nesting? No. smiley - winkeye

Sounds like a good solution. Witht he new baby coming, you'll need that extra bedroom. Sometimes it's hard to throw things out, but it is also liberating. Are you still house hunting?

We are still house hunting but with not knowing when I'll be permanent at the current job, we're probably not going to buy anything soon. smiley - groan If I'm hired at JD, we have a house in Coffeyville picked out. smiley - winkeye If I'm not hired there, we'll wait it out in the smallest apartment on earth and buy when they make me permanent at the current job. The baby will most likely be in our room for the first few months anyway, so the primary space issues will be storage for baby stuff and a place for Peanut to have her own 'big girl' space. I broached the subject with Mr. Emee over lunch. He's not keen on it. smiley - rolleyes He never is if it means I might ask him to lift something. I'll just have to bribe one of my brothers with pizza and beer to have them move stuff while he's out looking at cars one weekend. There's a slew of car shows coming up, so that's a pretty good option. smiley - ok

Sleep is such a hard issue. That's the one thing we just can't get figured out.

Sounds like you've got a workable plan for the big girl room. I keep wondering how we will ever get Erik out of our room and into his own room. I worry about having another baby b/c we have been doing so much attachment style parenting (just naturally, never read the book) that it is going to be a huge shock if he ever gets a sibling.

I hope they hurry up and make your job permanent! I hate living in a state of flux. It must be really irritating when you want to get moved.
