h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Got 4 letters from the council today, 3 were to tell me the same as the letters they sent me 2 months ago about my housing benefit and council tax benefit, but the 4th was a council tax rebate. Because i have been ill for half of last year and paid council tax, i am getting £297 rebate
Then they ask would i like it transferred to another council tax account or paid the money. let me think about that one for a second PAY ME!!
The ways of the local authorities are very strange...

My wife has been on the sick since last aurgust,

and they keep sending letters to say that she will get the same momey as she did last week

as she gets paid by book,,,,,we sort of gathered that

I think i might have to for 6 months rent rebate (£1800) though. You would think i was trying to rob them.

I get no thanks for not claiming off the state for 6 months until i am skint and then they mess me about.

My living room is starting to look like a council office with all the rubbish they keep sending.

Oh well maybe it is the start of things to come... but some money to live on would be nice too!

you would not mind if the letter said something diferent, but you get letter after letter saying the same thing

They think you are trying to rob them the moment you put a clame in

At least you hear from them... that's more than I get

I swear my wife has worked for them,

you either hear nothing from them for ages,,,or ,,,you cannot shut them up

Don't mention blooming tax rebates...


My mum was sent a cheque for over £200 pounds a few months back and she didn't know why she was given it... so she phoned up the "very helpful" council to see why she was given it... they said it was fine etc and that she was "owed" it...


Two months later it turns out the council made a mistake... so bang bang bang on the door comes a damn baliff... saying that my mum "fraudulantly" took funds from the council... B*****KS! she said... she sorted it out and cleared her name... and she was given another £212 for compensation... now that's poetic justice...
