The above is a link to the Gresford Colliery Disaster.

The day the disaster happened, there was a football match between Wrexham and Tranmere Rovers.

A guy at Tranmere Rovers is helping me with gaining some information that they hold within their archives.

He has sent me some information already such as the score at full time, who was in the Tranmere Rovers side and who scored the goals.

He's also going to dig around for some more information.

The only thing is...I'm not too sure where to put this information within the entry.

Any ideas anyone?

Might I make a suggestion? This is what seems logical to me ...

Change the heading "the Accident" to something like "The Day of The Accident" or "Friday 21 September, 1934" - then the para you have ...

There would be a football match on the Saturday afternoon between Wrexham and Tranmere Rovers, so on Friday 21 September, 1934, many miners doubled up their shifts so they could watch the match. This match was free to attend, so for those with little income, this would be a luxury they would not overlook.

Just to let you know I looked this match up in my 'History of the Football League" and "Football's Remarkable Matches' books, and, you've guessed it, nothing in either.

Oh, another bit of trivia for you.

My Granddad came around to the house at the weekend. We were looking out of the landing window and he commented that he could see a slagheap.

We didn't know that we were looking at the old slagheap from Gresford Colliery. It just goes to show how close it actually is to my house.
