A mean curse

That is a really nasty mean curse. "May your life be ruined!" - Gah. That's not very nice at all. Ok, so a curse isn't meant to be nice, but what about something like: "May your day be a bit bad!" or "May you fall down and graze your knee!". It's a bit much to be -that- nasty to someone if they don't want their fortune's read.

Anyway, just my (silly) opinion smiley - smiley

Raindawn - Keeper of Bookshelves that Defy the Laws of Physics

Hey there, Arevos!

Sorry for the late reply! I didn't see that anyone had posted to my work until just now smiley - smiley

While I do indeed agree with your assessment of the curse, I was only repeating what the gypsy said. Yes, the curse in the article was actually cast upon yours truly during a stroll through El Retiro in Madrid. At least so far it hasn't come true...
However that last part of the entry--about subsequently getting lost in said park for 45 minutes during a torrential electrical storm, aimlessly trudging around while up to my ankles in standing water--that was true too smiley - winkeye

Cheers! smiley - ok

smiley - laugh I never thought of it that way. smiley - biggrin No, actually my screen name is an old highschool nickname I had, because at the time, some of my friends compared my ability to remember (almost effortlessly) large quantities of useless trivia, to the abilities of Dustin Hoffman's character in the movie 'Rainman'. The story of my screen name along with many more bizarre anecdotes from my travels throughout the world (but thankfully no more involving evil gypsies) can be found on my personal space. smiley - smiley

A man clutching a can of Tennants extra said more or less the same thing to me in Southwark Park a few months ago when I didn't give him 'a few bob'.

Most modern Spanish gitano are modern people, and no longer recoil at the colour yellow or refuse to travel across water, as their grandparents might have done.

Beggars never represent their culture, just its failings.
