I thought it would be a suitable forum for it to be titled with a place and members could pool useful information and make enquiries to each other.
for instance i'm going to near Calgary in Canada and i would love to hear of other members expeiences , both good and bad, to make my visit more interesting at avoiding their pitfalls.
it seems to me that the original H G T T G was along these lines..
what do you think--

I think that the best place to post this is in the Ask h2g2 forum - it has a lot more traffic. http://www.h2g2.com/A148907

Alternatively have your tried searching the Guide itself? While it has lots of gaps it is still a pretty good reference tool. It does work like the orginal guide.

Where near Calgary are you going? Are you going to have transportation?
If you're able to explore Alberta (and you really must, if you're coming all this way) I'd highly recommend heading North East from Calgary to Dinosaur Provincial Park first and learning first-hand what a Hoodoo is.
Then go up to Drumheller and visit the Tyrell Museum of Paleontology. It's a fascinating place with some of the best fossil displays anywhere. Standing next to a T. Rex really makes one feel like a little lunch.
On the way, you'll get to see what the Canadian Prairie looks like
After that you can head across (West) to Jasper and South through Banff and Lake Louise, through the Rocky Mountains, perhaps stopping at the Columbia Icefields where they have a tour up onto a glacier (for a fee, of course). Tired yet?

Calgary itself has a Zoo, the Olympic park and other attractions. Stop at Travel Alberta Vistor's Centre and they'll have info, maps etc.

Cheers!
