OK, it was anounced today that the government (this is the UK) wants to lower the cost of the internet. Could we, as the Guide, set up a Guide pettition to agree with the perposals and get it sent to parlement? Any Guide top man or woman reading this want to set this up on the main page?

Hey, no apology necessary. Actually, seems to me the trouble is the telephone rates. I've long thought it was a crime that you can't even call next door without paying per minute. Flat-rate local phone pricing is as responsible for our cheap net (here in the US) as flat-rate pricing from Internet providers. And we've had flat-rate local calling (pay one charge per month for unlimited calling) for years and years, at least the very local area. 20 years or more.
