I would like to add a helpful footnote, if I may.
Inserted into the middle of the sentence 'It is about a fifth of a semitone, which is clearly audible to untrained ears' just before the (sub) header 'Flats versus Sharps: Never the Twain Shall Meet', as follows:
It is about a fifth of a semitoneA fifth of a semitone registers as twenty cents on an electronic tuner. You can generally get away with tuning five cents above or below your desired pitch, before discrepancies become painful when two instruments play the same note., which is clearly audible to untrained ears.
