How long is an article in the old review system likely to stay 'Pending'?
In addition, it would be great if Sub-Editors could be slightly more contactable. One of my articles has gone 'Pending' and is being edited - and part of the edit is a spelling mistake on the first line. So... I'd quite like to see it changed.

Have you clicked on the editor's name and left a message in his/her personal space?
That's always a good first step.
You could also leave a note in the forum at the bottom of the entry.
Once a Subeditor is done with a piece, it goes to the in-house team for a final edit before being posted live on-site.

I have left a message - but I'm loathe to leave a message at the entry as there's no guarantee the Editor is going to see it. Hopefully if it goes through a final edit then the simple mistakes will be picked up...

Thanks very much for that suggestion, Crescent - I'll certainly give it a go.

Though not all subs use the same convention in their email addresses. For example, I use jimi@subs... rather than jimiX@subs or something like that...
Good luck with it!

Back to the original question, how long is 'Pending' on average? Ball park? Guestimate?

I'm not sure how easy that is to answer, since we're transitioning from one editing process to another right now. I have 4 entries pending myself. Another recently approved one was pending for about two weeks before it was approved.

Thanks for that. Any kind of time frame is always useful... if only to ensure that for the first week or so after seeing an entry goes pending I don't spend my time every morning sitting waiting patiently for e-mails or refreshing the front page every 8 seconds to see if my entry is amongst the day's finest.

I find the best way to pass the time is to write something else.
Any Entires that the Sub has worked on are listed on his or her Personal Space under 'My Most Recent Guide Entries', along with anything else that she or he happens to be playing with. If the Sub has been busy, titles tend to get shuffled out of site; so a message posted on the Subs page is more likely to attract attention than one posted to the Entry itself. I think we're all fairly conscientious about following up on queries and suggestions; but sometimes messages do get overlooked.
