(Or find me an alternate blob for the starfield background.)

Do you want me to dop something with the asterod blob? I've got the background for that, and I could do planet or something in one of the corners?

No, doing blobs is fine, they can stay on the Entries!
The category pictures, though, are solely for the FP, where we won't be able to use the old ones once it's changed. So it doesn't make sense to invest a lot of work on those now.
If you like, you can look through the old blobs for something to use for a general sci-fi one, though

"two dimensions should be enough for the new front page"
I'd say at least three - we want it to change regularly...

It doesn't appear to matter. By today's Front Page, we're still doing the queue-skipping thing for no good reason.

WAs the picture jumping your permission then? At least it was a peer reviewed article rather than a silly editorial piece that they used just because they had a picture of a sign!

I can't work out what you're saying, Elektra. Sorry. Though you do seem to have taken offence at something I said
That Entry was not sub-edited, while we have plenty waiting that were.

Mala, I didn't realize it wasn't subedited. I just thought there was a problem with the picture. Please forgive!

With the five entries shown, new one at the top system, you could publish an entry without a picture by leaving the picture unchanged, referring to the previous top entry.
And with the current system of one new entry and two older ones, you could publish an entry without a picture by dredging up an archive entry with a picture.
Nothing should be skipping the queue unedited. Should it?

I thought they stuck you in jail for queue jumping in the UK = the editors SHOULD be setting an example for gosh sakes!
unsub.

However flawed the process, we should stick to it & treat all entries the same.
I hadn't realised that some entries were actually skipping steps, thought they'd just been poorly edited, as has happened in the past. But then, relying on volunteers for scouting & sub-editing, I guess that's a possibility.

A lot of the usual sub-eds are currently unavailable, but there hasn't been a request to the group for anyone to take some on, or anything, and there are still ten sub-edited Entries pending. (Plus one that's a bit controversial and one that has skipped the queue because there was a picture.)
Key: Complain about this post
