In a conversation when I include a link to the newsnet_scotland (without _)website e.g.

I am told the text contains a word which may be offensive to some and I can't post. If I delete the link the I can post to the conversation.

Hi Bx4,
Would you be willing to email the link to the moderation team at [email protected]? We can try to check the link against the filter and see if we can work out what is tripping it.

I apologize for the late reply but I'm not subscribed to this forum, so I didn't notice it prior to today.

No problem I have been rather busy elsewhere. It has just occurred to me that I haven't posted a link to the site recently and it has been renamed and redesigned so it might be worth posting a link to the site to see if there is still a problem

hi psychocandy

The news_net_scotland site has recently be renamed and redesigned. So I tried so I just tried the new link and it now seems to be OK(see my previous post)though h2g2 still seems to think the old name without the _ 'contains a word which other users may find offensive.' Weird

Thanks for the offer of help though.

We checked the filter for that site name and didn't find it. Our filter was inherited from the BBC and contains the same terms that theirs did, many of which are not actually offensive or swear words or anything like that at all. Unfortunately, removing terms from the list does not seem to update the live filter. This is one of the things we're working on with our Technical team.

Should you ever encounter the same problem again with something tripping the filter and not being able to identify what it is, please feel free to send us an email and we'll be happy to check into it for you. smiley - smiley

Thanks for the update. I had already encountered the overly politically correct filters when I used the word 'n_once' (sans _) meaning 'the present purpose' only to find that it also had another quite different meaning. So it goes.
