Yes, there are actually more dimensions than we know; it is an integral part of Einstein's general theory of relativity. The fourth dimension is how gravity manifests itself, in the way that if you place a mass on a sheet of fabric, it curves.
The analogy is to think of a piece of paper rolled up (a 2D thing curved to make a 3D thing); in the case of the universe, it is a 3D thing rolled up in a 4th dimension.
