I'd love to come, but it would take me well over a month to save a train fare out of my giro and organise accommodation...
If this situation changes, I'll let you know...
btw, I offered to help arrange an Aberdeen meet sometime this year on another thread... It'll probably be at the end of the summer / early Autumn; could anybody who's likely to be interested drop me a note on this thread, just to keep me motivated.

Pete, you should go and tell people at the Scottish researchers page. and I think that Fords was offering accomodation in Edinburgh. The real discussion is happening here F73037?thread=249631
Hope to see you sometime soon!

There has been mention of an Aberdeen meet a couple of times. It just needs someone to start shouting about it and I'm sure you would get some peeps.

I mentioned to Mina back about October/November that I would be organising something this year... I'll start shouting about it once this one's done and dusted; I don't want to confuse the issue by having two signup threads at the same time.

We could do with getting out the central belt every now and again - besides, I've never actually been to Aberdeen...

I was thinking along the lines of aiming for the "pleasure beach" - there's an arcade, a funfair, coffee shops, bars (not cheap ) and a nice beach to romp on, and later in the season it shouldn't be too crowded. There are a couple of pubs between the bus/train stations and there, so the walk down wouldn't be too onerous.

Oooh, you are awful!
I cant believe you've not been to Aberdeen Jamie! Isnt it compulsory for everyone to go up that way when they are young???
You've never been to Aberdeen?!

Philistines!
Yeah I'm still offering floorspace, Peet - unfortunately that's exactly what it is. Nowt fancy I'm afraid, but the offer's there...

Thanks for the offer, Fords, but I'm pretty certain I really can't afford this one.
On the Aberdeen itinerary, I've figured out a route from the bus/train station to the beach which takes us via "Archibald Simpsons", the Aberdeen equivalent of Edinburgh's "Standing Order". They do real ales from £1.25 a pint...!

Cool!
I'd definitely be up for an Aberdeen meet, I haven't been there for years. It'd be nice to go up north again too, I love it up there.
You've never been to Aberdeen?!
Jamie Posted Mar 31, 2003
Ahem. Sorry. Can't think what brought that on. Surely not the prospect of cheap beer
Incidentally fords, if there's still floor space going - *looks hopeful*

Unfortunately, I posted too soon to Peet. As far as I know, young Croz is still crashing on my floor and there isn't enough space and well, it's not fair on my flatmate! But if he doesn't make it, we can always see what happens.
