Wuthering Heights: Personally (and I know a lot of people will disagree)I couldn't get on with this at all. Heathcliff and Cathy are too annoying and nasty, you can't emphasise with them at all because they bring it all on themselves.

Jane Eyre: I liked this a lot more than WH but I felt that the differnt sections of the book were too seperate and didn't really follow on very well, if that makes sense. Still a good book though.

Wuthering Heights was on a required reading list for my english class a couple of years ago. The only credit I got on that entire book was a cartoon I drew that was about how much I DIDN'T comprehend. Praise to the man who invented Cliff Notes!

I've never read Jane Eyre, But I had to do Wuthering Heights for GCSE and it was the most miserable load of drivel I've read in a long time. The storyline was thoroughly unpalatable, the characters painfully foolish and everybody seemed to die. Dreadful book, in my opinion.

I think "dreadful" is a bit harsh!

I'm still trying to drag my way through Wuthering Heights. That was part of my effort to branch out but it didn't work, seeing as how I'm reading Pride and Prejudice again. It's just such a good book.

Oh, I loved Pride and Prejudice!! It's one of those very pleasing books to read, because the ending makes you feel so incredibly GOOD! The thing about Wuthering Heights was that it was very depressing and all the characters were nasty, primative and often very very foolish- you get fools in Pride and Prejudice too (Like Lydia, Mrs. Bennett, Kitty etc.), and even Elizabeth makes the odd mistake- but they manage to turn things around and make it all good again. I think it's a wonderfully colourful, pleasurable read.

Sense and Sensibility is equally as good

Hmmm...I don't know if I should say this, but...I rather liked Wuthering Heights....I don't know why, I guess it's the tragic aspect, i'm always drawn to a good tragedy. Though I do also love P&P, S&S, Jane Eyre....and Emma, that's a really sweet, funny one, although I did kind of want to slap Emma around a little, meddling busybody that she was. That was a part of what made her lovable, though, I suppose. I guess I just enjoy mixing the comedic & the tragic.

Lol, that's fair enough- just don't force me to like the same things and I'm fine with it all. Did you ever see the dramatisation of P and P? It was a great piece of TV!

Haha, no, never force anything on anyone, that's my motto. What TV version of P&P? I haven't seen one. I think there was a movie version which I'm going to look up right now....
....no, haven't seen any of the ones listed...the only one i think I would have an interest in would be the '95 mini with Colin Firth. I love him in almost everything I've seen him in. But I do have to say that I'm almost always disappointed with movie versions of these type of books, because my vision is never the same as the directors'. Oh, well, looks like i'll have to start making movies...

Andrew Davies did a screenplay of it for the BBC a few years ago. Every so often they put it on the TV again. It's very funny! And, it does have Colin Firth in it, dripping wet shirt and all!

No "Ought to" about it! Reading shouldn't be a chore- only read a book if you want to. The only exception is in exams. But I have to tell you, it's a fantastic book! Or if you can't take the language (It can take a bit of getting used to, can't it?) get a copy of the BBC dramatisation- it's pretty faithful, and highlights all the funny bits in the story. The story's very enjoyable, either way!

No, I do want to read it, but I hve a lot of books I want to read. I'm reading Don Quixote at the moment, which is very good. Quite funny too, even if the author tries to make himself look good at every oppurtunity.

Lol, that's usually the funny bit to me! My friend and I are going to try and set up a book club at school.
