'Yachi Da' is actually 'Iechyd da' (pronounced 'yechid da').

It literally means 'Good health' (hence being used to mean smiley - cheers).

I have very fond memories of being carefully primed to say this to someone who'd just come back from holiday in Wales when I a nipper. I then spent a fair bit of the day going around squawking 'Yakky Dar!!' at anything that moved - but then, I was only six, and the people teaching me didn't understand a word of Welsh anyway.

Unfortunately, my Welsh is as limited as my German - i.e. extremely smiley - sadfacesmiley - blush.

smiley - dog
