...pops them between her fingernails. If you have to get up to chuck em down the loo everytime you find one, the grooming session might take some time. Lucky is the animal that only has one flea at a time...

Ah, I have yet to add about the handy bowl of warm water. Which is far easier than balancing precariously on the edge of the bath tub with a heavy cat in one hand and a comb in the other....

Very nasty. My mum does all the flea checking, as she has my 
during the day and lets him on the furniture. She checks all the dogs while they sleep.
I wrote a similar article a few years ago, about head lice. Makes me itch even now.
