Butterflies in her stomach
A single spotlight
A guitarist
A singer
A sudden twirl
sends her bata de cola1
flying
Torso proudly arched
Hands weaving
ornate patterns
Slow turn
dragging the tail
along the floor
Heartrending song
Lamenting
Grieving
Struggling to pull
the tail up behind her
Revealing intense footwork
Spotlight forgotten
Audience forgotten
Only here - and now
Passion
Compassion
Pride - pain
A sudden tilt of the head
A shoulder
A swaying hip
Eyes like velvet
Eyes aflame
Fiery - yet composed
Intense - yet distant
Ebbing into
Bittersweetness
A long tailed Flamenco dress
