I've just read The Bell Jar which I found almost unputdownable. The last line about 'stepping into the room' is highly significant in the context of the novel. It finishes in exactly the right place. I will read the book again very soon. It's a wonderful, tragic, heartfelt, artistic creation.
Her death is a sad loss to the world of literature. But it was inevitable.
