Java is a mockery of any reasonable computer language.
"Write once, run anywhere"? What a bunch of crap. Java is no different than C++, except slower, less powerful, and a moving target to boot. A JIT compiler is just like any other compiler as well, just slower, less powerful, and without any real standard.
I hate Java.

Still, in theory it would be a nice idea to have a language which could run on multiple platforms without any extra effort...
I guess it's another of those ideas which sounded like a good idea at the time... like communism, and gravity.
