A Conversation for Talking Point: Life's Little Dilemmas
life's too short to not give in to temptation?

Ok, so giving up a bus seat isn't really a temptation thing. It's more a question of being galant (I'm a galant guy I think). So no worries there.
As for temptation:
Well I'm smoking a cigarette and drinking a beer as I write this. Problem? I gave up smoking 2 years ago & am currently on a diet (so no beer!!).
I've realized that there is a finite amount of fun to be had in life so why not have it while you can? Life is just too damn short to refuse those little temptations. Besides, it's always a bonus when you have a temptation that you give in to. It makes you feel so develishly naughty and alive when you do!
I say set some arbitrary rule for yourself just so you can break it and every once in a while feel alive!
Roomates chocholate? He'd better keep an eye on his right leg or I'll gnaw it off in his sleep if I'm hungry!

Setting a rule just so you can break it? But if you are giving yourself permission to break it before you have even attempted to keep it, then the breaking of the rule loses its illicitness, and therefore all the potential for excitement at the breaking of such just drains insipidly away...
Best to make a rule, with every intention of keeping it...
...then break it when you least expect it!
