It's a pretty good start, nice job!
I think you need to go into some detail on the cases he presided over - you mention his 'creative reasoning' without telling us what this reasoning was. I'd also be interested to know more about the controversy over his book - exactly what was taken out of context, and why?
Remember that readers in other parts of the world (and many in the UK!) won't know what a 'Lord Justice of Appeal' or 'Privy Councillor' does - some explanation would be appropriate.
This is shaping up to be a great entry. If you can flesh out some more details, this will make a great Edited Guide entry! Don't forget, if you make any changes, post on this thread that you have so that we can have a re-read.
Hope this helps

Have made the alterations you suggested Rich, I think that is about all the detail I can go into on the cases though without making it too legal rather than autobiographical.

Looks good so far. Though I think the bits you've added in brackets would look better as footnotes.

Ahh right.. it's < FOOTNOTE > (without the spaces) what you want to be shown < /FOOTNOTE >

Though I was meaning the explanations as footnotes rather than dates as well, though you can have both I guess.
You might also like to use < BLOCKQUOTE> < / BLOCKQUOTE > in the same way where you have a quote from Lord Denning near the bottom..

I'll give it a go.
Dates in footnotes is the more usual and accepted way of citating law in essays by convention, I don't think it makes too much difference though.

Thanks for writing this. Ever since there was a throwaway reference to Lord Denning in 'Drop the Dead Donkey', I've been wondering who he was... So there you go - you've educated someone.

nice entry - I have one or two little things to say though:
you wrote
>>Lord Denning was born in Whitchurch in Hampshire<<
but I think it would be better to give his name as it was at his birth rather than what he came to be known as.
>>Among his best known judgements is the judgement in Central London Property Trust Ltd. v. High Trees House in which the principle of promissory estoppel<<
I have no idea what that is about. Any chance of either a little explanation, or a link to an explanation? (or am I just a thicko? I have no idea what an estoppel is)
The quote at the end is very interesting, but to find out what it relates to, what the case was actually about, I'd have to do a search. Any chance of a link?
But this will be a valuable entry to the guide when it comes up on the front page

I agree about the name, it does make it look like he was Christened Lord Denning! I'll change that now. mmm Promissory Estopel, your certainley not a thicko, it is a really difficult concept to explain and would probably take an article up on its own. In order to understand estopel, equity, consideration and benefit must be explained with their legal definition. I don't know ehther to take it out or make an article to link it to someday.

OK, so how about a general description?
Is it to do with criminal law? Property? Family law? Llamas?

Dandanorff, you don't strictly need to find links. The sub-editor will be happy to do that, especially as it's your first entry. Lets concentrate on the content first, at least - I still think you need some more on the suggestions I raised above - it's coming on, but you need to expand those areas I mentioned before
