JAB I don't know what caused the stiffness but I think it is hereditary as my Dad has it.

JAB it could be your pillow or mattress, I have got a special orthopedic pillow and mattress but it does not help. Once I even tried resting on my parents adjusamtic (Gloria Hunniford) bed, it does not help, those type of beds are a big con.
