"The Snowman" is a children's book 'written' by Raymond Briggs ('written' because it has no words ).
According to amazon.com the animated version of the story is available on DVD, but I don't know whether that is in the US only. I certainly hope not because I love both versions. I only have the book though.
Jane, my entry on Insults is at http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/classic/A193880
The other cartoons I've done for The Post are linked under the cartoon, though I'm sure you knew that already .
And Amy... are you STILL pregnant? ROFL I would never have known .

I'll be 'still pregnant' until after your season is to where ours is now.
Well, it made sense in my head!

If you can - do!!!
It is a wonderful book with beautiful illustrations, and the cartoon is even better. Check out the Radio Times Christmas edition - they usually sneak it into the schedule somewhere.
With an eye to the commercial they even published the music for easy(ish) piano and various other instruments, complete with full story line and pictures - all my pupils loved this time of year when they could once more play 'The Snowman'. Right at the end of Term I would organise them into ability groups and we'd play duets all day - sigh - that's probably the thing I miss most about not doing it anymore!

I taught them all from about 4 years old right up to adults. I think my favourite age was around the 9-10 year mark - always enthusiastic, especially with things like recorder club at this time of year.
Yes - I thought I should go 'festive' seeing as I am hoping to collect a Christmas Tree and go mad with decorations at the weekend.
h2g2 kindly provides the wonderful smileys, so I may as well use them.
