I really like this. I'd almost be tempted to send it off to Peer Review - I reckon this one, with a few tiny tweaks, would make it in to the Edited Guide. See if you get any feedback here, wait for a week, and then submit it to PR. Excellent first effort, bored laura!
Sam.

Gnomon - time to move on Posted Nov 27, 2002
Excellent!
I would have put the arrival of punk as marking the end of Glam Rock, rather than the death of Marc Bolan.
This entry is ready for Peer Review. It should breeze through and become part of the Edited Guide.

There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho Posted Nov 27, 2002
Now steady on there a moment young Gnomon me ole pal me ole beauty! I think it's a little previous to forward this entry to PR right now, although I have no doubt that it will eventually appear on the front page
I'd say that by 1975 glam was already on the wane and was being superceded by teenybop - Bay City Rollers, Donny Osmond, etc, and by stadium rockers like ELO. I reckon it was that, along with prog rock, *and* the rise of punk which saw off glam. By the time punk really got going in 76/77, the glam artists listed in the entry weren't seen in the charts any more. The reign of glam was from 1971 to 1974.
David Bowie went on a soul kick I think, not disco. It started showing on Dianmond Dogs, and both Station to Station and Young Americans were very soul/R+B influenced albums. By the time disco was all the rage - 1977, Bowie was producing Iggy Pop, putting out Low, and being hailed as the grandfather of punk.
I'd add Suzi Quatro to the list of artists, and I think that in any entry about glam there's got to be a mention of Mickey Most, as well as Chinn and Chapman and their RAK label which had most of the biggest glam acts signed up.
Mud, The Rubettes, Gary Glitter. All major glam artists who I think should get a mention
I'd write more, but Mrs Gosho is pestering me to go to the shops with her and pick up the Thanksgiving Day turkey
