Hello! This is a fine short vid of this impressive woodpecker. It is far bigger and more boldly marked than any woodpecker that we have in the entire continent of Africa!

Its appearance was a big surprise! We get smaller ones at the bird feeder - the wooden pole that it's on, that is - and suet holder.

Well spotted! Definitely a good idea for fledgling birders to pay more attention to movement just in case it is something unexpected - like A88044366 finding Siskins mixed in with Greenfinches, etc
