Hello! This is a fine short vid of this impressive woodpecker. It is far bigger and more boldly marked than any woodpecker that we have in the entire continent of Africa!

Glad you like it, Willem! Its appearance was a big surprise! We get smaller ones at the bird feeder - the wooden pole that it's on, that is - and suet holder.

Well spotted! Definitely a good idea for fledgling birders to pay more attention to movement just in case it is something unexpected - like A88044366 finding Siskins mixed in with Greenfinches, etc

That European Goldfinch in front of my window just now won't sit still, so no really sharp images. Pity. First time I saw one of those.
