There was probably even a Sleazescandal living there when the rest of humanity started migrating out of Africa...

I think you're right there. He has traces of Gilbert & Sullivan's Pooh-Bah, who said,
"I am, in point of fact, a particularly haughty and exclusive person, of pre-Adamite ancestral descent. You will understand this when I tell you that I can trace my ancestry back to a proto-plasmal primordial atomic globule. Consequently, my family pride is something inconceivable. I can't help it. I was born sneering."
Only Pooh-Bah is a humorous character who at least tries to be endearing.

Katisha. Mercy! Mercy for Ko-Ko! Mercy for Pitti-Sing! Mercy even for Pooh-Bah!

Mikado. I beg your pardon, I don't think I quite caught that remark.

Pooh-Bah. Mercy even for Pooh-Bah.

You could argue that Pooh-Bah is quite progressive for his time, as he has lines like,
"They are not young ladies, they are young persons."
which could be seen as gender-neutral. Similarly,
"It is very painful to me to have to say "How de do, little girls, how de do?" to young persons. I'm not in the habit of saying "How de do, little girls, how de do?" to anybody under the rank of a Stockbroker."
definitely implies that he willingly accepts that little girls can be of Stockbroker rank and above, and if it is his habit, then surely his own stockbroker(s) must therefore be (a) little girl(s)?
That said, possible child labour law violation, mayhap...?

I used to have a gender-neutral teacher. At least, I concluded this from the statement: 'It is useless to explain this again.' Given previous experience, the teacher must have been 'it'.

Some politician recently proposed to change 'Mother' to 'Child bearing parent' in legal documents. This did get quite some backlash.

Just define 'mother' to be gender-neutral. 'Gender' is some set of silly rules a society has made up. Or say 'child-bearing parent'. Why should that be a problem? People used to be more tolerant of other people's eccentricities, at least up in the hills, but hey.

WS Gilbert was a really sharp satirist, though. smiley - laugh After she read your comments, I had to explain the plot of 'The Mikado' to Elektra. It still makes people laugh.
