Aboard the Europa Clipper
![]() |
In case you haven't heard, NASA scientists think (hope? pray?) that Jupiter's icy moon, Europa can support life. They're sending a mission.
You can go, too – well, okay, your name can. It's the usual drill: they'll engrave your name and send it along with the poem that was especially written for the occasion by US Poet Laureate Ada Limón. You can sign the greeting card, called Message in a Bottle, by leaving your name and email address. When you do so you can read the poem.
I go on all these trips. If I can't get out into space, the least I can do is send the aliens a postcard. If you've been reading Gheorgheniplex you are aware that I have alternate views about the poem and think they should have sent greeting from the octopuses.
