ALA convention 2002

ALA Convention, Atlanta, GA, June 13-19, 2002
[What I remember about the convention was that the flight down to Atlanta went through Chicago, and on the way back it went through Washington, D./C. I stayed in a very tall hotel, near the top. They had lovely grits for breakfast. I visited the Margaret Mitchell house, and marvelled at how Macy's was so different from the Macy's in Boston. It was as if I had gone back in time to the 1960s. I was there during a baseball game between the Bosto Red Sox and the Atlanta Braves, which were owned by Ted Turner. I think the convention was held in the Omni Center, which had a marvalous koi pond. I could sit and watch the koi while I ate lunch. The subway system had very long escalators.]
Here's a link to the ALA's website about this convention:

Here's what I've been able to glean from H2G2 conversations:
Subject: It's Paul's First H2G2 Anniversary party, YAY!!!

ALA stands for American Library Association.
20,000 librarians from all across the USA and
Canada have converged on Atlanta, taking over
pretty much all the hotel space.

I wish they would figure out what the
technical problems are with this server, and
fix them. I've been unable to log on here
for the last two days.
I even tried registering as another researcher, but
that didn't work, either. wah
Internet Cafe set up a whole room full of computers
at the convention I went to in Atlanta. That worked
for a while, but sometime Tuesday afternoon,
it became impossible to post anything. I would keep
logging on, but every time I tried to post, there
would be a message that I needed to log on (again! steam ).-
