Moving day diary
Apr 6, 2005

The long-awaited move from First Street to Second Street finally took place today. I happened to be at work while the moving crew unhooked all the utilities, towed my mobil home to its new site, reconnected the utilities, moved the front porch, and reconnected the awning over the front door. When I got home from work, everything was ready except the phone service, and even that was close to completion (A Verizon truck was parked in front of my place as I arrived).

Even though my home is 35 years old, it somehow seems brand new because the lot is new and all the external hookups are new. There's even a paved parking space in front for my car. biggrin

I spent all of Sunday and much of Monday packing stuff in bubblewrap and boxes, and moving objects from places to the floor or the sofa. When the moving crew got into my place this morning, they put even *more* of my stuff on the floor. They didn't want *anything* to be high enough to fall and break.

My muscles were sore as I left for work this morning. This evening, I had to put things back where they had originally been. I'm almost done with that, but my back and arms are pretty sore now, so some of that can wait till another time.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
