I'm not surprised the flume is frozen.Even here in South East England, temperatures have been below freezing during the day, leaving ponds and puddles frozen.
I'm a bit mystified by the salmon eggs though. Did you just find them, have you been fishing, or did you buy them from a fishmonger?
