Good to see that the good guys won (for now)
The trouble with tolerance is that it has to come both ways.
You can be the epitome of virtue and tolerance. If you encounter someone highly intolerant, you'll lose. Big time. Dying that way may make you a saint, but you're dead either way.
You can see that happen a lot nowadays.

Thanks, guys. Yep, I agree. I put this in the story to tell the truth. Some people like to pretend that race prejudice stopped at the border between South and North. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case.
