Create May 2020 Challenge: El Condor Pasa
The 1913 musical story of a group of 19th century Peruvian miners looking up at the bird that symbolises freedom from their life of drudgery.
Appropriated by Simon and Garfunkel in 1970 from a Parisian street band and morphed into an upbeat folk song.
Following a legal battle, El Condor Pasa (If I Could) is now in the Public Domain and has been covered over 4000 times!
In these days of uncertainty and restrictions of movement, we'd like to ask you, what would you do, if you could'?
Does the actual song drum up memories of summer concerts, Paul and Art in Central Park?
Have you visited the Andes and seen a Condor soaring majestically over the earth?
Have you been inspired by street music and mastered the pan pipes?
Or do you just watch the birds and dream of travelling again?
As always, send pictures, write stories, impress us with your music videos, do some research into ethnic operas, we'd like to hear from you at the Post, we surely would!
